It is currently 3:31 am and what am I doing? Sitting in bed doing absolutely nothing. Well that's not entirely true...I was hanging out with my brother but now he's snoozing and snoring up a storm on my bed. This is some quality sibling bonding. But any who, I can feel the excitement in literally ever fiber of my being so how am I supposed to possibly go to sleep when I'm this jazzed? To kill the time until I'm "supposed" to wake up (since I should be sleeping right now but I'm obviously not...sorry Mom) I thought I'd make a little blog to post my different experiences in for whoever wants to come with me on this incredible opportunity. So before I start out, I need to give some shout-outs. Thanks to my awesome parents for letting me go on this month long excursion on the other side of the pond and for funding it and just being awesome in general. Thanks Mama and Papa Singh! :D My next shout-out goes out to Dr. Palacios for letting me know about this program and this amazing experience. He invited me into it so nicely and so happily, it would have been a crime to even think about not going. Third, a shout-out to my orange and black, Mercer University. I am so incredibly thankful to go to a school that offers its students such amazing opportunities! Go Bears! My last shout-out goes to my fellow classmates who will be experiencing this journey with me! We don't know what exactly is in store for us, but we will get to create those memories together.
Today, June 27, 2014, I will be leaving the red, white, and blue to live and study in EspaƱa for one whole month. That's right, y'all. 32 days. To say I'm only excited is an injustice to my current emotions. However, that was not the case while I was packing. I was angry and confused as I stuffed clothes haphazardly into my suitcase only to pull them out and question, "Am I really going to wear this? Esha, do you really need to take every single pair of shorts you own? Can you just get it together?" I did it though! My suitcase rests easy at a nice 43.7 pounds! 6.3 pounds under weight! For me, this is INCREDIBLE. I'm one of those people who needs everything, no matter how unimportant it may seem. For example, please don't judge me, I packed my pillow pet. It's a necessity. I also packed an extra bag in my suitcase just in case I go overboard with shopping, which I probably will. I mean, hellooooooooooo I need to take souvenirs back to the states with me! I am definitely counting a Spanish man as a souvenir because of reasons. Tehe.
Today is the start of an incredible journey for me. I already know it's going to be amazing. It will also be challenging, exhausting (I will be walking two hours just to school and back each day), scary (I've never been on my own before), but oh so rewarding. I'm so excited because in about 12 hours, I will be on a plane to an incredible country where I will be able to make some truly amazing memories.
So join me on my adventure! I'll try to post on here daily, depending on my wifi status.
But for now, adios y vaya con Dios. I'm leavin' GA!
In twelve hours, but you get the point.
:)
